Nearly the entire run – 62 issues – of Milwaukee’s Art Muscle magazine (1986-1996) is now fully accessible in our Digital Collections.
Art Muscle was a bi-monthly art publication that documents the arts scene in Milwaukee during the last decade of the 20th century. Initiated by Debra Brehmer (a writer, art historian and curator) while she was in graduate school at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, the first issue was published in September 1986.
The entire collection is full-text searchable, and includes subject headings to help identify key people, places, and topics.
