UWM is also dedicated to preparing our students to meet workforce demands at the regional, state and global levels. The services provided by these centers play a vital role in helping students deepen their understanding of different perspectives and collaborate more effectively with people from various backgrounds and experiences. The centers regularly collaborate with each other and other campus units to provide exceptional programming and services to students, faculty, staff and the community.\u00a0The centers and their programs and events are open to all students. Some programs and events may also be open to faculty, staff, and the community.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"default\">The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee is one of the nation\u2019s top campuses for LGBTQ+ students and is currently rated 4.5 stars by Campus Pride as an LGBTQ+ friendly University.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>UWM has achieved one of the highest possible scores for fostering a safe and inclusive campus for LGBTQ+ students and their allies. This success is driven by our deep commitment to student experiences <strong>and our attention to their needs and concerns<\/strong>, which extends beyond the LGBTQ+ Resource Center.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We actively collaborate with departments across campus to cultivate an affirming and welcoming educational environment for all students. The other initiative is part of UWM&#8217;s Living Learning Communities (LLCs), intentional communities that cultivate academic or affinity spaces in the residence halls. The <strong>Kaleidoscope LLC<\/strong> focuses on building an inclusive space for LGBTQIA+ students and their allies. Both initiatives are <strong>opt-in opportunities<\/strong> that students can select from the Housing portal.\u00a0<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"uwm-p-slider--slide\"><div class=\"uwm-p-card uwm-p-card--gold\"><div class=\"uwm-p-card--body\"><div class=\"uwm-p-card--title\"><strong>Where are Inclusive Restrooms on campus?<\/strong>\u00a0<\/div><div class=\"uwm-p-card--content\">There are over 50 Inclusive Restrooms\u00a0across campus, especially in the Northwest Quad and in the Student Union. Find one by visiting our <a href=\"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/lgbtrc\/support-resources\/housing-and-restrooms\/\">Housing and Restrooms<\/a> page. Along with using Inclusive Restrooms, students, faculty, and staff are encouraged to use any restroom that aligns with their gender identity!\u00a0<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"uwm-p-slider--slide\"><div class=\"uwm-p-card uwm-p-card--gold\"><div class=\"uwm-p-card--body\"><div class=\"uwm-p-card--title\"><strong>What are some organizations I can volunteer with to support LGBTQIA+ initiatives?<\/strong>\u00a0<\/div><div class=\"uwm-p-card--content\">Thanks for wanting to give back to your communities! Your first appointment will be a 45-minute appointment, talking about your goals for transitioning, the risks and benefits of the medicine, and changes you can expect. They will be able to answer any questions about costs, examinations or labs, and your prescriptions you may have at that first and subsequent appointments.\u00a0<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"uwm-p-slider--slide\"><div class=\"uwm-p-card uwm-p-card--gold\"><div class=\"uwm-p-card--body\"><div class=\"uwm-p-card--title\"><strong>How do I get involved with LGBTQIA+ communities on campus or in Milwaukee?<\/strong>\u00a0<\/div><div class=\"uwm-p-card--content\">The UWM LGBTQ+ Resource Center <strong>hosts small and large events<\/strong> throughout the school year. The best way to stay up-to-date is to visit the center or <a href=\"http:\/\/bit.ly\/LGBTQRCdiscord\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">join our Discord<\/a>. Along with our \u00a0physical space, there are other ways to get involved on campus; we have <strong>two student organizations, the Rainbow Collective and PROUD Panthers<\/strong>, that support LGBTQIA+ initiatives. If you would like to venture out into Milwaukee, we have a list of <a href=\"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/lgbtrc\/support-resources\/other-resources\/\">communities and organizations<\/a> to learn more about.\u00a0<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div><\/section>\n\n\n\n<section class=\"uwm-bg-gray-dark uwm-u-py-80\"><div class=\"uwm-l-container--base uwm-l-container--overflow-hidden\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading heading-separator\" id=\"h-centers-for-advocacy-and-student-engagement\">Centers for Advocacy and Student Engagement<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The Centers for Advocacy and Student Engagement (CASE) collaborate to support and advocate for students through comprehensive programs, resources, professional development, and community connections in Milwaukee.
