The March Science Bag takes the public on a tour of fire and ice on Earth and Mars, where both planets experience a dangerous interaction between erupting volcanoes and the glacial ice that covers them. Volcanologist Barry Cameron demonstrates how meltwater that escapes from beneath the ice leads to large-scale floods called jökulhlaups. When the glaciers retreat, curious flat-topped volcanoes — tuyas — are preserved in the barren landscape.
