7th Lusophone and Hispanic Linguistics Symposium

The Departments of Spanish and Portuguese at both UWM and UW-Madison jointly present the 7th Lusophone and Hispanic Linguistics Symposium (LHLS7). Held on the UWM campus, this two-day Symposium includes presentations on different fields of descriptive, applied, social and theoretical linguistics from a synchronic or diachronic perspective. Language contact issues will be highlighted in this event.
Keynote speakers include Dr. Javier Rivas (University of Colorado, Boulder) on “A usage-based approach to inflected infinitives: a contrastive analysis of Galician and Portuguese,” and Dr. Sonia Barnes (Marquette University) on “Awareness and salience in language contact: the case of Asturian Spanish.”
