We are so excited to present our new virtual bulletin board that we endearingly titled EL COCOTERO, which in English means the coconut tree!

Who remembers the book Chica Chica Bum Bum? Here’s a video of a read aloud of the Spanish version that inspired the name of our virtual bulletin.

This is our new gathering place for sharing information. “En el cocotero, ¡allí te esperaré!” translates to “There in the coconut tree, I will wait for you.”

What we love about EL COCOTERO is that anyone can post an addition in one of the curated columns, just like a physical bulletin board – and you don’t have to worry about bringing your own tacs or tape!

Focused primarily on enrolled students, this resource invites all students, as well as alum, faculty and staff to visit and make additions. Additions should be related to Latin America, the Caribbean, and our global diasporas.

EL COCOTERO will be updated regularly, so bookmark the page and check back frequently. Current columns include Internships, Events, Conferences, Graduate Programs, Scholarships, and Content. Have a suggestion for an additional column? Email alida@uwm.edu.
