Japanese instructor honored with teaching award

The Wisconsin Association for Language Teachers (WAFLT) is pleased to announce that Atsuko Suga Borgmann has received the 2016 WAFLT Recognition of Merit Award, which is presented annually to individuals who have demonstrated excellence in teaching or who have made significant contributions to the language teaching profession.

Suga Borgmann, is a Senior Lecturer and Coordinator of Japanese at the Department of Foreign Languages and Literature at the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee where she conducts and coordinates Japanese instruction, program development, and community outreach. She is a member of the board of the Wisconsin Association for Language Teachers and serves as president of the Wisconsin chapter of the American Association for Teachers of Japanese.

WAFLT has been serving Wisconsin world language teachers since 1913 and is one of the largest state language associations in the country. The purpose of WAFLT is to promote, strengthen and facilitate the teaching and life-long learning of world languages and cultures in schools and communities to meet the needs of our increasingly interdependent world.
