Jimmy Gutierrez, JAMS Alumni and Ted Conferences senior editor, and Daphne Chen, data and investigations reporter for the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, visited UWM today to speak with JAMS students.<\/p>\n

The visit was the latest part of the JAMS Program’s Career Connections Speaker Series,\u00a0<\/em>where faculty invite local professionals to the classroom to help give advice and navigate the journalism, advertising, public relations, and communications field.<\/p>\n

Chen detailed her journey from graduating college in 2014 to her current position with the Journal Sentinel, noting four different jobs that got her to where she is now. Gutierrez spoke on his semi-unconventional journey from school to firefighting to audio storytelling to community outreach and then back to audio storytelling again.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
