In September, the Institute of World Affairs (IWA) co-hosted a workshop with Milwaukee Public Schools (MPS) exploring service-learning as a powerful instructional practice to engage students in learning for action. Approximately twenty MPS educators participated in this interactive program to discover ways students can apply classroom learning to address real-world, global-to-local issues. The program featured a case study on climate action to provide a practical example to guide educators through the process. IWA will continue to work with MPS throughout the school year to support teachers interested in experimenting with global-to-local service-learning.
