In August, IWA Director Doug Savage sat down with Pardeep Kaleka and discussed the importance of global education outreach organizations like IWA in developing global awareness, teaching global literacy and building a sense of interconnectedness.
Kaleka is an anti-hate activist, who has worked with IWA since 2012. At that time, the Sikh community and his family were personally impacted by a shooting that happened in Oak Creek, Wisconsin, that took the lives of seven members of the Sikh community. Since then, he has been working on ways to make communities much more resilient against hate crime. Kaleka has become a powerful voice against hate crime and violence and helped found the organization Serve 2 Unite, which brings together young people from different religious and cultural backgrounds.
