Project Update from the Sponsors

Project Sponsors, Vice Chancellor Robin Van Harpen and Provost Johannes Britz, would like to recognize the significant progress project teams have made with the ISS Hub 2 Implementation planning so far.  We sincerely thank you for your time and effort on this important project.

As the leadership team communicated to you in April, the Implementation Core Team learned a lot from Hub 2 stakeholders through the data gathering activities in March and April. In response to the information shared and questions raised during that time, we have approved a request from the ISS Leadership Team to extend the Hub 2 planning timeline.

Under the new timeline, the Campus Technology Support phase 2 kick off will take place in July and the second Shared Services Center implementation in early 2020 (January-February). The timeline is being extended so the activities listed below can be completed over the summer. The results are expected to address the questions and considerations raised during the last few months.

Summer project activities will include:

  • Documenting and communicating about services provided by CTS and SSC, including web site updates and other resources for Hub 2 transition planning;
  • Establishing ongoing operations for the Service Excellence & Accountability Structure, including regular meetings, feedback, and reporting through the Operational Advisory Council for both the SSC and CTS;
  • Small group discussions for divisional staff in Hub 2 supported units to learn more about the Shared Services implementation at UWM, talk with ISS project leadership, and determine how they can be involved with detailed planning for your unit;
  • Discussions with staff and unit leadership to finalize the plan for staffing CTS and SSC 2;
  • Discussion with unit leadership to establish school/college/division teams that will develop and implement detailed transition plans for Hub 2 supported units; and
  • Determining the location of the second SSC (space planning never being an easy task at UWM!).

We are grateful that you are sharing your unique perspectives, skills, and insights through the work of the ISS project teams. Your commitment to the success of the project makes all the difference.  We thank you again for your continuing engagement.
