Jihee Beak joined the Office of Assessment and Institutional Research in August 2015. As Policy and Planning Analyst, her major responsibilities include:

  • Identifying, designing, producing and interpreting analytic reports,
  • Supporting and enhancing the availability of analytical resources for use by the university community,
  • Advising on the implementation of new information collection systems, and
  • Designing and developing metrics and reporting strategies related to accountability and assessment for a range of academic activities.

She earned her Baccalaureate degree in Library and Information Science from Kyungpook National University in South Korea, and MLIS and Ph.D. in Information Studies from the School of Information Studies, UWM. Her major research interests focus on information management and organization, with experience in the evaluation of knowledge organization systems and policies, metadata, domain analysis, and scholarly communication. In addition, she has taught courses related to information architecture, database management, and knowledge organization.

She enjoys applying her knowledge organization expertise to design analytical reports and resources and to evaluate institutional performance.
