{"id":11123,"date":"2026-07-20T15:00:08","date_gmt":"2026-07-20T20:00:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/informationstudies\/?p=11123"},"modified":"2026-08-13T15:30:02","modified_gmt":"2026-08-13T20:30:02","slug":"sois-researchers-explore-ethics-of-ai-in-tabletop-roleplaying-games","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/informationstudies\/sois-researchers-explore-ethics-of-ai-in-tabletop-roleplaying-games\/","title":{"rendered":"SOIS Researchers Explore Ethics of AI in Tabletop Roleplaying Games"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"lead-in wp-block-paragraph\">As artificial intelligence becomes increasingly integrated into tabletop roleplaying games (TTRPGs), researchers from UWM&#8217;s School of Information Studies are exploring the ethical questions that arise when AI enters collaborative storytelling and learning environments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dr. <a href=\"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/informationstudies\/directory\/lee-wan-chen\/\">Wan-Chen Lee<\/a>, together with doctoral candidates <a href=\"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/informationstudies\/directory\/hirt-juliana\/\">Juliana Hirt<\/a>, the project&#8217;s lead researcher, and Amanda Gottesman, recently conducted six focus group interviews with TTRPG players who use AI tools during gameplay.
