SUMMARY:SOIS Research Presentation: The Heat of the Stage
DESCRIPTION:Synopsis:\nIs the performer on the stage a royal\, elevated above all others and the center of attention; or a jester\, there for the pleasure of the audience? Elements such as stage height\, lighting\, and sound can all impact how teller and audience come together. Based on research with open mic and slam storytelling shows and building on Marshall McLuhan’s interpretation of medium theory\, this presentation discusses the impact of the “heat” of the stage. \nDr. Sarah Beth Nelson\, Assistant Professor\nUW-Milwaukee School of Information Studies\nTuesday\, April 23\, 2024 | 12:30 – 1:30pm\nNorthwest Quadrant Building D 3rd Floor\nRooms: 3810 / Microsoft Teams\n2025 E. Newport Ave.\nMilwaukee\, WI 53211 \nThis event will be recorded and available up to two weeks after the event. Please contact Laura Meyer to view recording.
