Join us for an introduction to music librarianship presented by the Music Library Association! Learn what the responsibilities of a music librarian are, what qualifications are needed to become a music librarian, and what kinds of career opportunities are available. You’ll also have an opportunity to meet UWM’s own Music and Arts Librarian, Anna Grau Schmidt and learn about her career journey to the UWM Library.

Lisa Shiota
Lisa is the Publicity & Outreach Officer of the Music Library Association. As Publicity & Outreach Officer, she promotes the interests and activities of the Association at conferences, schools, and through its social media. Lisa is a music cataloger at the Library of Congress and performs with various musical groups in the Washington, DC area.


Anna Grau Schmidt profile imageAnna Grau Schmidt
Anna is a Music & Performing Art Librarian and lecturer at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee School of Information Sciences. Her research focuses on gender and manuscript culture in 13th-century France, as well as information literacy instruction in the arts. She is currently co-editing the volume Female-Voice Song in Medieval Europe with Lisa Colton (Brill, forthcoming 2020).
