Author Jacqueline Woodson and Illustrator Allen Say Selected as Nominees for the Hans Christian Anderson Book Award

The United States Board for Books for Young People (USBBY) has selected author Jacqueline Woodson and illustrator Allen Say as their nominees for the 2020 Hans Christian Anderson Book Award. They will compete with authors and illustrators from around the world for the award which is given every other year by the International Board for Books for Young People (IBBY) to those whose complete works have made an important, lasting contribution to children’s literature.

The US award committee members are Christopher Crowe, Brigham Young University; Elizabeth Fithian, Abrams Books; Laretta Henderson, University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee; Terry Hong, Smithsonian Asian Pacific American Center; and Susan Knell, Pittsburgh State University.
