The School of Information Studies (SOIS), the ischool at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (UWM) invites applications for a fixed-term teaching academic staff position at the Lecturer, or Senior Lecturer level in Literature and Library Services for Children and Young Adults and School Library Media.

The ideal candidate will be able to teach in the following areas: school library services, children’s and young adult services in public libraries, instructional technology, children’s literature, and young adult literature. The incumbent will be expected to teach three courses per semester (fall and spring). Additionally, in consultation with faculty and SOIS administration, the incumbent will provide coordination, program leadership, and advisement/recruitment and student support services, including supervision of clinical placements and ePortfolio final assessments, for all SOIS students pursuing school library certification. Collaboration with colleagues in the UWM School of Education, with the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (library media and teacher licensing) and colleagues at other universities offering school library certification is required. A limited summer appointment is offered to provide year-round support for the school library certification program.

Instructors for the Master of Library and Information Science Program

SOIS is looking for adjunct candidates to teach courses in library science across a variety of disciplines including foundations of library and information science, reference/information services, readers’ advisory, collection management, management of information agencies, public and academic libraries. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate an ability to articulate the value of the profession/MLIS to contemporary society. Candidates should have experience teaching both online and onsite.  Minimum requirement: MLIS degree.

SOIS is looking for adjunct candidates to teach courses in information technology across a wide variety of disciplines, including web design, mobile development, information security, human-computer interaction (HCI) & user interface design, data science, data visualization, information architecture, project management, information systems and networking. Candidates should have experience teaching both online and onsite
