The goal is for you to click the link and attempt to login so they can steal your login and account information.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"h-signs-of-a-sharepoint-scam\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Signs of a SharePoint scam<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Receiving an urgent email with a file link you weren\u2019t expecting from a person or department you aren\u2019t familiar with.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Common email subject lines used include \u201cNotice of Administrative Action\u201d, \u201cOfficial Notification\u201d and \u201cUWM Orientation &amp; Advising Notice\u201d.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Common areas mentioned within the email include \u201cfrom the Dean of Students\u201d, Academic Affairs, HR, and UWM Payroll.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Includes misspellings, grammar errors, and urgent language. UWM is often shown as \u201cUwm\u201d. The email may mention removing access unless you take immediate action or update your current month\u2019s salary, trying to get you to click the link as quickly as possible.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"h-what-to-do-with-an-unexpected-sharepoint-email\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">What to do with an unexpected SharePoint email<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>If you are unsure about an email you receive, do not respond or click on anything. Forward the email to abuse@uwm.edu, and UWM\u2019s Information Security Team will confirm anything suspicious.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Please contact the <a href=\"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/information-technology\/help\/\">UWM Help Desk<\/a> with any concerns about an email you\u2019ve received.\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Items relating to salary and payroll are managed through <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wisconsin.edu\/workday\/\">Workday<\/a>.
