{"id":16322,"date":"2026-04-21T09:11:36","date_gmt":"2026-04-21T14:11:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/information-technology\/?p=16322"},"modified":"2026-04-21T09:11:38","modified_gmt":"2026-04-21T14:11:38","slug":"check-your-wifi-which-network-do-you-connect-to","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/information-technology\/check-your-wifi-which-network-do-you-connect-to\/","title":{"rendered":"Check your\u00a0WiFi: Which network do you connect to?\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>This&nbsp;June, UWM will be launching a new&nbsp;WiFi&nbsp;network for guests and will be&nbsp;retiring&nbsp;the UWM&nbsp;Visitor&nbsp;WiFi&nbsp;network.&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As part of this change, all&nbsp;students,&nbsp;faculty,&nbsp;and staff at UWM should double-check that their&nbsp;personal&nbsp;devices are&nbsp;connecting&nbsp;to&nbsp;WiFi&nbsp;through either&nbsp;UWMWiFi&nbsp;or&nbsp;eduroam&nbsp;\u2014 not the Visitor&nbsp;network.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Many personal\u00a0devices\u00a0auto-connect to\u00a0WiFi, so\u00a0it\u2019s\u00a0important to check your\u00a0network\u00a0connection\u00a0before June.\u00a0UWM managed devices should require no change.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-wifi-networks-at-uwm\">WiFi Networks at UWM<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>UWM&nbsp;WiFi&nbsp;is for long-term use for UWM students,&nbsp;faculty&nbsp;and&nbsp;staff. Check that your&nbsp;personal&nbsp;devices&nbsp;are&nbsp;connecting&nbsp;to this network, and not UWM Visitor.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Eduroam&nbsp;is another secure&nbsp;WiFi&nbsp;option&nbsp;for&nbsp;UWM students and employees&nbsp;and&nbsp;is&nbsp;available&nbsp;while&nbsp;visiting&nbsp;other participating universities&nbsp;and\u202finstitutions.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>UWM visitors and guests will use the new UWM Guest&nbsp;WiFi&nbsp;network&nbsp;(currently UWM Visitor). This network is&nbsp;intended for short-term use&nbsp;by those visiting the UWM campus.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Please visit the <a href=\"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/information-technology\/wifi\/\" type=\"link\"
