State Group Health Insurance Changes for Crafts Workers

September 23, 2021

Effective January 1, 2022, employees covered by the Trades contracts with the State of Wisconsin, University of Wisconsin System, and University of Wisconsin-Madison are eligible for the employer contribution for health insurance. This benefits change means an employee who enrolls in a state health insurance will now have access to the same health insurance benefits as other employees:

  • Eligible to receive the employer contribution towards health insurance plan of their choice in the same manner as other employee groups.
  • Eligible to receive the monthly contribution toward the Health Saving Account, if applicable; and
  • Employees who decline health insurance are eligible to apply for the $2000 Opt-Out stipend.
