The UWM Honors College encourages all faculty and staff to examine how systemic racism shapes their behaviors, mindsets, and practices in order to become more effective advocates for antiracism. We invite all faculty in the UWM community and our MPS partner schools to join us in this endeavor.
Please attend one of our upcoming events:
The Honors Teaching Retreat
January 15, 10:00-12:00 CT on Zoom
This event features a panel that includes Dean Margaret Noodin (Associate Dean of Humanities, Professor of English, and Director of the Electa Quinney Institute), Associate Vice-Chancellor Chia Vang (Division of Global Inclusion and Engagement and Professor of History), and Dr. Wilkistar Otieno (Associate Professor and Chair of Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering).
The panelists will discuss the importance of embracing antiracist teaching practices, in addition to offering concrete recommendations that faculty can utilize in their classrooms this semester. The remainder of the retreat will be dedicated to Q&A with audience members in order to foster a deeper conversation about the roles that faculty and staff can play in dismantling systemic racism at UWM.
