Between the Lines is a student–run book club focused on reading books from all genres and providing a fun space for literary discussions. We are currently meeting virtually but hope to switch to in-person meetings when it safe to do so. Meeting twice a month, we vote on what books to read from a list of titles that members have submitted, instead of having a predetermined list. This helps to make the club more member-driven and to ensure interactive discussions.
Between the Lines is a collaborative space for honors students to take a break from academic reading and enjoy diverse books, as well as participate in fun events like movie screenings or conversations with authors, and to meet new people in the Honors community!
Between the Lines will be meeting every other Monday at 6:30 pm, as Covid rules allow we plan to meet in person in Honors room 155 but this is subject to change.
- Scheduled Meetings Will Be Held On
- September 27th
- October 11th
- October 25th
- November 8th

Between the Lines has 3 key values when choosing our monthly books:
- Accessibility: When choosing our monthly book, we consider how easy it would be for students to find a copy from places like the library, used bookstores, or buying new.
- Inclusivity: Each month the members of Between the Lines discuss ideas for the next month’s book and vote on which one they would like to read. This helps to ensure we are reading books that members truly want to read and would enjoy discussing. It also helps us avoid books that may be difficult or triggering to other members.
- Diversity: We aim to choose books from a variety of diverse authors, that showcase more than one point of view. We hope to read books that tell stories from people of color, LGBTQ people, and those with disabilities. We are always looking for suggestions.
In the past we have read books such as “The Handmaids Tale,” “Dead Blondes and Bad Mothers,” “The Hate U Give”, “Twilight”, “Crazy Rich Asians” and “The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue”.
