Prospective transfer students are strongly encouraged to apply to UWM well in advance of the application deadline to allow for a smooth transition.

Students who transfer to UWM are subject to the program requirements at the time of admission.

The UWM Registrar’s Office (RO) will evaluate a student’s transfer coursework upon admission. The RO requires approximately 2-4 weeks to evaluate transfer coursework and apply it to a student’s UWM transcript. Academic advisors are not able to see transfer coursework before this step has been completed by the RO.

Transfer students are strongly encouraged to meet with the academic advisor for their intended program as soon as possible upon admission to review transfer course equivalencies, discuss program requirements, and create an academic plan for the coming semesters.

Each program within the College of Health Sciences may allow course substitutions for program requirements. As a result, it is critical for transfer students to meet with an academic advisor to review the UWM transfer course evaluation. In addition, some programs have policies related to the time in which coursework is completed (for example, transfer coursework beyond X number of years will not be allowed to satisfy major requirements).

Prospective transfer students are welcome to schedule advising appointments to address questions related to transfer work and duration of study at UWM by calling 414-229-2758 or visiting Northwest Quadrant Building B, Room 6425. Please bring a copy of your unofficial transcript to your first appointment.

Students considering a transfer to UWM from a UW System school or a Wisconsin Technical College are strongly encouraged to use Transfer Wisconsin to determine how courses will transfer prior to meeting with an academic advisor.
