Merrill Hall 148

BIPOC Student Annex

Looking to fund your graduate studies during the 2022-2023 academic year? Applying for a Master’s or Doctoral program and unsure of how you will pay for it? Attend our in-person information session to learn about applying for one of the following Graduate School Fellowships available to full-time graduate students:

Advanced Opportunity Program (AOP) Fellowship

The AOP competition is open to newly admitted or currently enrolled domestic UWM graduate students. Prospective UWM graduate students may also apply for the AOP.

The AOP is designed to fund academically excellent underrepresented racial/ethnic minority graduate students, as well as academically excellent disadvantaged non-minority graduate students.

Distinguished Dissertation Fellowship (DDF)

The DDF award is open to both domestic and international UWM PhD students. Only PhD students who have achieved dissertator status or who will do so by the start of the academic award year are eligible for the award. DDF awards recognize the most academically excellent PhD students.

Distinguished Graduate Student Fellowship (DGSF)

The DGSF award is open to both domestic and international students enrolled in a Master’s or Doctoral program at UWM. Only doctoral students who have not achieved dissertator status by the nomination deadline for the award are eligible for the award. DGSF awards recognize academically excellent UWM graduate students.
