EMBA grad is Rogers first director of equity, diversity, and inclusion

Karen Nelson, a 2017 UWM executive MBA graduate, is the first director of equity, diversity, and inclusion at Rogers Behavioral Health, based in Oconomowoc. She started in January after serving three-and-a-half years as the city of Appleton’s diversity and inclusion coordinator.

Karen will develop and implement Rogers’ system-wide equity strategy from patient care to recruitment and build relationships with local partners across nine states where Rogers offers services, according to the Milwaukee Business Journal.

“While I love my job and hate to leave The City of Appleton," Nelson said in a news release, "in these challenging times, I feel drawn to ensure the number one human need following the COVID-19 pandemic—that is top-notch mental health services, which reach more diverse communities across Wisconsin and throughout the United States."

“We are grateful to Karen for her service to our community, and for moving this work forward in important ways," Appleton Mayor Jake Woodford said in the release. "We wish her all the best in her new endeavor.”
