As a Teaching Assistant, you&#8217;ll need to navigate how AI affects your role, your students&#8217; work, and your teaching practices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This page provides guidance to help you make informed decisions about AI in your teaching context, whether you&#8217;re leading discussion sections, grading assignments, or serving as a primary instructor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-understanding-your-role-with-ai\"><strong>Understanding Your Role with AI<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-consult-your-supervisor-first\"><strong>Consult Your Supervisor First<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Before making any decisions about AI policies or tools in your classes, discuss AI approaches with your supervising instructor and\/or department. Different departments, courses, and instructors may have varying policies about AI use. Your role is to support and implement the course&#8217;s overall AI policy, not create your own.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-key-questions-to-discuss-with-your-supervisor\"><strong>Key Questions to Discuss with Your Supervisor:<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>What is the course&#8217;s policy on student AI use?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Are there specific AI tools students are permitted or prohibited from using?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>How should AI policies be communicated to students?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>What should you do if you suspect inappropriate AI use?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Are there AI tools that might help you with your TA responsibilities?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-ai-and-student-academic-integrity\"><strong>AI and Student Academic Integrity<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-responding-to-suspected-ai-misuse\"><strong>Responding to Suspected AI Misuse<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>If you suspect a student has used AI inappropriately:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Document your concerns<\/strong> but do not accuse the student immediately<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Consult your supervising instructor<\/strong> before taking any action<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Never upload student work to external AI tools<\/strong> to check for AI use &#8211;
