Students in the Methods in Paleomagnetism and Environmental Magnetism

Students in the Methods in Paleomagnetism and Environmental Magnetism class took a trip to  Downer Woods on campus to collect soil samples.  As soil develops, chemical reactions create and destroy magnetic minerals, which which can be monitored using magnetic techniques.  After the rainy weather we’ve been having, the soil pit was unfortunately full of water, but the students bravely plunged in in the name of science!
