My research focuses on the water chemistry and lake dynamics of my field site Laguna Bacalar located on the Yucatan Peninsula in Mexico. I am primarily looking at evaporation trends using major ion chemistry and δ13C, δ18O and δD isotope data. I also study the primary hydrochemical processes controlling the lake chemistry which include influx of high alkalinity groundwater through cenotes and other pathways, CO2 evolution, and a resultant pH rise and calcite precipitation.
