Research Interests: My primary interest is structural geology, specifically shear zones and thrust faults. My research focuses on the hydrolytic weakening of quartz grains. This is the process in which water infiltrates otherwise anhydrous mineral phases making the rocks significantly easier to deform. I am investigating the mechanisms and pathways that allowed for water to infiltrate naturally deformed quartz grains along the Willard Thrust Fault in norther Utah.
