UWM is providing regular updates as it works toward closing the Waukesha campus. These will be provided every two weeks to CGS faculty and staff and have a dedicated section in an upcoming Faculty & Staff Updates newsletter. Other updates may also be sent, as necessary, in addition to this biweekly email.
Here are the updates from the four operational areas:
Issue 1: HLC Accreditation Issues
At the end of May, UWM submitted the additional location application to the HLC to establish the UWM University Center at WCTC. We expect the preliminary decision in late summer/early fall. For UWM at Waukesha, UWM is preparing to submit a “Provisional Plan” to the HLC in October, and it will include the logistics of the Waukesha campus closure, all student communications and a database of students’ progress to degree.
Issue 2: Programming and Personnel
WCTC’s job landing page allows impacted employees to access internal postings. WCTC also included a checkbox on job applications for UWM at Waukesha employees. Find more information in this guide to applying for WCTC jobs and the WCTC benefits guide.
Employees are encouraged to use the services of UWM’s Employee Assistance Program (EAP), through Acentra Health, which is available to all UWM employees and their family members. Acentra Health is free, confidential and available 24/7. Please contact Acentra Health at 833-539-7285 or online at sowi.mylifeexpert.com. Sign in using UWM’s password: SOWI.

Issue 3: Washington County Closure, followed by Waukesha Closure
UWM’s Division of Marketing, Communications & University Relations has updated UWM’s website content now that UWM at Washington County is closed, and a team is planning for website updates needed for the closure of UWM at Waukesha.
A separate work group will begin planning the UWM at Waukesha closure, incorporating lessons learned from the Washington County campus closure.
Issue 4: UWM University Center at WCTC (and Washington County programming at MPTC)
Last month, UWM and Moraine Park Technical College added nearly 50 new program pathways that will guarantee MPTC students can seamlessly continue their education at UWM with a confirmed junior status. The 49 signed program-to-program articulation agreements will allow MPTC students who complete one of the many associate degrees at MPTC to transition into specific UWM bachelor’s degree programs.
UWM and WCTC leaders continue to meet regularly to work out logistics regarding the UWM University Center at WCTC, along with discussing optimizing course and degree program offerings, marketing and student services.
UWM and WCTC leadership are planning a WCTC Day at UWM at Waukesha on Oct. 1, where students and employees interested in transferring can learn more. Additional details on the event will be available in early fall.
These written updates to CGS employees will continue through the end of the Spring 2025 semester. This CGS webpage will remain the source of updated information, including frequently asked questions, upcoming meeting dates and postings of previous emails.
