Undergraduate Requirements<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Interested students must meet with an academic advisor to determine eligibility for the accelerated master\u2019s degree. Before a student takes a G level course, they must have a cumulative undergraduate grade point average (GPA) of 2.75. Undergraduate students must maintain an overall GPA of at least 2.75.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Students should indicate their intent to apply to the Accelerated Graduate Degree program by the completion of their 5th semester of coursework in the undergraduate bachelor\u2019s degree. This allows them to be eligible to take graduate-level courses during their undergraduate career in the 7th semester, and progress to their graduate career by semester 8.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition to the minimum GPA requirements, students must submit the following materials to the School of Freshwater Sciences:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  • Submit the declaration of intent to apply for an accelerated graduate program form located below with:\n
      \n
    • A 1-2 page personal statement that explains the students’ interest in a particular field of study and reasons for desiring to enter the accelerated program.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • A recommendation letter from a faculty member who can speak to the applicant’s critical thinking and writing skills, and ability to manage an increased workload.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

      Approved enrollment into graduate-level coursework during an undergraduate career does not guarantee admission to graduate school as part of the Accelerated Graduate Degree. Per usual UWM Graduate School criteria, students must obtain a \u201cB\u201d or better in all courses taken at the graduate level that are to be counted toward a master\u2019s degree.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Graduate School Admission Requirements<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

      To be considered for admission into Graduate School prior to completing their bachelor\u2019s degree, students must meet the minimum criteria for admission established by the MS in Freshwater Sciences and Technology, Professional Science track and the UWM Graduate School and\u202f be in progress to complete 105 bachelor\u2019s credits prior to their first term as a graduate student.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Students who do not satisfactorily meet graduate school admissions criteria may continue with their BS in Freshwater Sciences. <\/p>\n\n\n
