{"id":3242,"date":"2022-06-23T15:02:48","date_gmt":"2022-06-23T20:02:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/freshwater\/?page_id=3242"},"modified":"2026-03-25T16:57:48","modified_gmt":"2026-03-25T21:57:48","slug":"analytical-core-lab","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/freshwater\/research\/centers\/analytical-core-lab\/","title":{"rendered":"The Analytical Core Lab"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<section class=\"uwm-u-py-80\"><div class=\"uwm-l-container--base uwm-l-container--overflow-hidden\">\n<div class=\"uwm-l-row\">\n<div class=\"uwm-l-col\"><header class=\"page-header\"><h1 class=\"entry-title heading-separator\">The Analytical Core Lab<\/h1><\/header>\n\n\n<p class=\"lead-in\">Providing chemical analysis for researchers and hands-on training in advanced instrumentation for students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Analytical Core Lab at the UWM School of Freshwater Sciences helps with research in two ways.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Teaches students about analytical techniques for preparing samples. It also provides hands-on education on the instruments used in the lab. The Analytical Core Lab has several workstations. Researchers can use these for experiments. They focus on nutrient, trace metal, or isotope analysis.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Many instruments are available for campus researchers, staff, and faculty to use.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-analytical-facility\">Analytical Facility<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The Analytical Core Lab can conduct non-certified analyses for dissolved nutrients, dissolved organic carbon, Total C (filter, solid, or tissue), Total N (filter, solid, or tissue), trace metals, and isotope ratios (d15N [solids\/filters], d13C [gas or solids\/filters], d18O [liquid], d2H [liquid]).
