The plankton that feed baby perch were a subject of spring study by School of Freshwater Sciences scientists and students and a guest scientist in June 2022. Incoming freshwater sciences student Andrew Vail (left), master’s student Ryan Roekle (3 years), sophomore Amy Ressel (1 year) and Stormgarden Engineer Jim Zsebe (volunteer) sailed with Chief Scientist Dr. Russell Cuhel (30 years, behind camera) to sample water from the Junction to 25 km offshore and in profile mode at the end point.

The team will continue their sample workup for the next two weeks before another expedition in early summer. The work is funded by the Research Assistance Fund of the UWM Office of Research.
