Celebration of Earth Day: Water Justice

The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee’s Black Student Cultural Center and the Center for Water Policy at the School of Freshwater Sciences invite you to join our virtual Earth Day event.

The event is Thursday, April 22 from 3-4 p.m. CDT.

Melissa Scanlan, Director, of the Center for Water Policy at the School of Freshwater Sciences, will provide an introduction.

Our esteemed panelists will speak on critical issues of water justice as we consider the Biden Administration’s Build Back Better infrastructure funding proposal. In cities surrounding the Earth’s largest fresh surface water system, do all people have affordable, clean water?

How have decades of disinvestment in neighborhoods where People of Color predominantly live resulted in lead-tainted water and public health concerns? Join us for a presentation and lively discussion.
