During the années folles in Paris, dancer Ida Rubenstein commissions Maurice Ravel to create the music for her next ballet. In this loosely adapted biography, the solitary composer, inspirationally at a loss, turns inward and, revisiting key moments and figures of his life, writes the 16-min symphonie mécanique that will become a universal masterpiece.
