Welcome Back to the Spring Semester: Check Out These Key Dates To Remember

The Panther Family Association is thrilled to welcome you and your student back for the spring semester. We hope your student had a great winter break, possibly enjoyed one of our Winterm classes and spent some time with you through the holiday season.

For some students, dates and deadlines at UWM can be confusing. One date of note passed before the second semester started, as Spring 2017 Financial Aid disbursement began January 13. Also, students who were applying for spring graduation had to do so by January 27. But a number of key dates remain over the next three-plus months of the semester.

Below is a list of some of the most important ones to keep in mind for the Spring semester.

February 3: Spring 2017 Financial Aid Census date.  The number of credits a student is enrolled in on this date is considered their attempted credits for the semester in the calculation of  academic progress. All undergraduate students must complete 66.67% of their attempted credits to meet this standard. This is also the last day to add or change classes without penalty. Students should see their Academic Advisor before this day if possible with specific questions as lines are often long on February 3 with last minute questions.

February 17: Last Day to Drop a Course without a W on their transcript. If your student is thinking about dropping a class, they need to see their Academic Advisor. They should also see a Financial Aid Advisor if they are concerned about making academic progress which is necessary to maintain financial aid eligibility.

March 17: Last day to drop full-term courses without a ‘W’ on record (tuition and fees apply).

March 19-26:  Spring Recess. The University is open but classes are not in session.

May 11: Last Day of Classes

May 13,16-20: Final Exams

May 21: Graduation
