UWM’s Preferred Tenant Program
If your student is asking questions like, “When should I start looking for an apartment?”, “What are my rights and responsibilities as a renter?”, or “What can I do if I’m having a poor renting experience?” the Preferred Tenant Program is for them.
UWM’s Neighborhood Housing Office will be hosting events each of the next two Fridays, providing the fundamental knowledge and resources needed to have a successful off-campus renting experience. Presentations from the University Legal Clinic, the Department of Neighborhood Services, the Financial Aid Office, and the Dean of Students Office explain everything from signing a lease to budgeting an independent life.
Additionally, all attendees who complete the program are acknowledged as preferred tenants, and receive $250 off their security deposit and/or 2% off monthly rent with participating landlords.
The Preferred Tenant Program will take place on February 19 and 26. Call (414)229-6999, email (email@example.com), or have your student stop in the Neighborhood Housing Office (located in the student union, room WG85) to reserve a space.
