UWM WiscAMP STEM Inspire Program
Funded by the Louis Stokes Alliance on Minority Participation Grant through National Science Foundation, the UWM WiscAMP STEM Inspire Program, is designed to support scholars’ academic achievement, increase exposure to STEM activities, and strengthen connections with STEM faculty and staff. This academic year program will also expose students to research and conference opportunities that build on their professional and soft skills in preparation for graduate school and/or employment.
We are accepting applications for our 2021-2022 cohort from enrolled freshman through senior students at all three UW-Milwaukee campuses who are underrepresented minorities majoring in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math fields. A complete list of majors that qualify is HERE. These students are highly sought after for their skills and expertise and we want to help them by forming bonds with our highly esteemed faculty mentors and outstanding peer mentors. The program also provides a generous stipend, including funding to engage in research with a faculty preceptor as well as to attend and present at national research symposia and local conferences.
Briefly, the application requirements consist of the following:
Completed online application, which includes:
- Uploading unofficial transcript with Spring 2021 grades and Fall 2021 enrolled courses;
- Submitting the name of one reference, preferable someone who can attest to the student’s aptitude and passion in their STEM major.
All application materials are due by July 1, 2021 at 4:30 pm.
