Study Abroad Opportunities Available For 2022-23

Applications are now being accepted for UWM’s Study Abroad programs for Summer 2022, Fall 2020 and the 2022-23 academic year. With some exceptions, most application deadlines are March 1.

UWM’s Center for International Education coordinates UWM’s study abroad opportunities.

Financing Study Abroad 101

Students can apply their financial aid to their study abroad program. Please encourage them to check out the Financial Planning section of the CIE website and attend a virtual Financing Study Abroad 101 (or watch the recording) to learn about funding opportunities.

COVID-19 & Study Abroad

As the COVID-19 pandemic remains a worldwide concern, students applying to study abroad must carefully review travel advisories and recommendations issued by the U.S. Department of State and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, as well as other program-specific sources. It is essential to be aware of host country restrictions concerning entry into the country, quarantine, travel, and/or curfews. If they have any questions/concerns about their destination, please contact the CIE office (; 414-229-4846).

NOTE: All university-sponsored international travel must be reviewed for approval. Therefore, all study abroad applicants (except those participating in faculty-led programs) must submit a completed Travel Risk Assessment and letter of support as outlined in the UWM International Travel Policy. The letter of support must come from the relevant academic unit outlining a compelling reason for the timing of the study abroad program. For example, this is the only time the student can study abroad due to their academic plan.

Lastly, virtual study abroad advising is available by contacting the CIE office (; 414-229-4846) to schedule an appointment.
