Planetarium Events Continue In August

Two more great events are on the schedule for UWM’s Manfred Olson Planetarium in August.

One event will be held virtually while the other will take place on the UWM campus.

August 3, 2022: (Virtual) The Life of an Astronomer 

Date: Wednesday, August 3, 2022

 Dr. Jean Creighton has always been inspired by how the cosmos works. From growing up in Athens, Greece, to obtaining her PhD in Astrophysics and becoming director of the UWM Planetarium, to flying in the stratosphere as a NASA Airborne Astronomy Ambassador, learn the story of Jean’s career from the ground to the stratosphere.

Date: Friday, August 5, 2022

Time: 7:00 – 8:00 p.m.

Location: UWM Planetarium

Cost: $6 General/$5 UWM Students

 Delve into the astronomy and mythology behind the zodiac and learn how to find your zodiac constellation in the night sky. In this live, interactive show, we will explore the stories and science of the zodiac constellations with a focus on what makes this month’s constellation, Leo, unique.

The program will include an indoor stargazing session of the night sky followed by the opportunity to ask questions. Not recommended for children under 4. For questions about this event, please email
