Great Leadership Opportunities Available For Students

UWM’s Student Leadership Programs will again be connecting with students through a number of leadership development opportunities happening this fall. Students can be nominated for all of the opportunities below for the 2019-20 school year.

  • Ignite Leadership Institute

o   Six-week leadership exploration program, 90 minutes/week. Students select their own session time.

o   Application required. Limited to 60 students/semester.

o   Best for: New leaders looking to grow in their understanding of leadership and find community with other leaders. Priority to undergraduate students.

  • Sophomore Springboard

o   Six-week, cohort-based program for second-year and transfer students

o   Offered in the spring semester, with a fall application deadline.

o   Best for: Second-year and new transfer students

  • Lead the Change

o   Six-week leadership certificate focused on social justice leadership and creating social change.

o   Application required. Limited spots still available for this fall. Also offered in spring.

o   Best for: Students interested in social justice and creating change

  • Strengths for Students Coaching

o   90 minute small-group coaching session utilizing students’ Clifton StrengthsFinder results.

o   Registration required.

o   Best for: Any student interested in exploring their strengths. Great for graduate students too!

  •  College to Career Transitioning Your UWM Experience 

o   This semester long program will help graduating seniors understand and frame their college experiences in a way that is valuable to potential employers or graduate schools.

o   Orientation session required. Offered only during Fall semester.

o   Best for: Students graduating in December 2019 or May 2020.
