Complete Your FAFSA For Next Year
Parents of students who will be studying at UWM in fall of 2022 need to complete their Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) as soon as possible. The FAFSA is available at the web site FAFSA.gov. It costs nothing to fill it out and should take about 30 minutes to complete.
Whether students are new or returning, they must have a completed FAFSA to be considered for financial aid at UWM. We use the results of the FAFSA to determine eligibility for most financial aid programs. Ensure that your FAFSA results are sent to UWM by providing our school code: 003896 on the form.
If you are unsure about your student’s eligibility to submit a FAFSA, please review eligibility requirements at www.studentaid.gov/understand-aid/eligibility.
When completing the form, use the IRS Data Retrieval Tool (DRT) to transfer your 2020 federal tax information into the FAFSA. If you are unable to use that tool, be sure to use your 2020 tax information when completing the form, not the 2021 taxes recently completed.
If you have difficulty completing the FAFSA or have questions about the financial aid process, schedule an appointment with a member of UWM’s financial aid team at: www.uwm.edu/meetfinaid, email firstname.lastname@example.org, or call 414-229-4541.
