Writing Center Services Available For Fall 2020 Semester

UWM’s Writing Center will again be offering extensive services to UWM students during the fall 2020 semester.

All writing center sessions will be conducted virtually. Writers may opt to text back and forth with a tutor or to use online audio/video options. For more about how online sessions work including two brief videos, “How-To Make/Cancel Appts” and “…Meet Your Tutor,” please visit the Writing Center website.

New this fall:

  • Starting Monday, Sept. 7 The Writing Center will offer limited staff and hoursa week earlier than usual. Students can register for appointments online at any time. The Center’s full regular schedule begins Monday, Sept. 14.
  • Expanded hours will include even later evenings (Sun.-Mon. until 10 pm) and every weekend.
  • Writers can ‘walk-in any time virtually – without a reservation – to see if a tutor is immediately available, just as if they were physically on campus.
  • Virtual class visits and group orientations are still available.

The Center continues to welcome all UWM writers – freshmen through faculty – to talk with a well-qualified writing tutor, one-on-one, confidentially, and free of charge.  Writers may bring in any type of writing, in any subject, at any stage of the process.

Whether it be an academic assignment or a more ‘personal’ project such as an application, publication, resume or cover letter, the Writing Center’s experienced staff can offer useful feedback and friendly support.
