SUMMARY:Writing for Teaching and Learning | Workshop 4 — Virtual
DESCRIPTION:Informed by the critical work of Writing Across the Curriculum initiatives and tailored to meet the distinct writing needs of UWM students\, CETL’s newest series\, “Writing for Teaching and Learning\,” launches this spring. Based on John Bean and Dan Melzer’s popular text “Engaging Ideas: The Professor’s Guide to Integrating Writing\, Critical Thinking\, and Active Learning in the Classroom\,” the Writing for Teaching and Learning workshops are designed for teachers of any discipline who have already integrated writing into their coursework and those who are wanting to start. \nOffered exclusively virtually\, these workshops are practical by design\, and participants who attend the first four workshops and complete accompanying “studio sessions” are eligible to earn the introductory digital badge of completion. \nSession 4: Get Your Weekends Back: 10 Practical Strategies for Handling the Paper Load \n \nBecause instructors have limited time to spend on student writing\, the goal of this session is to explore how to use that time as efficiently as possible. We will share 10 time-saving strategies for coaching students as they work on writing assignments\, enabling students to produce their best work\, while keeping the grading load manageable.
