SUMMARY:Learn to Surf Lake Michigan
DESCRIPTION:Did you know that the Milwaukee area is one of the surfing capitals of the Midwest? Lake Michigan is great to learn how to surf and provides a practice ground for bigger water. This surfing class is geared toward first-time surfers who have never been on a board before. We will provide wetsuits\, surf boards\, instruction\, booties (if needed)\, and gloves (if needed). You will learn the beginner skills of how to “pop up\,” stand up\, and control a surfboard. Registration closes two days before the trip. SUMMARY:MCS Bouldering Competition
DESCRIPTION:The Midwest Climbing Series is an annual circuit of seven climbing competitions held on University of Wisconsin and University of Minnesota campuses. The mission of MCS is to promote and support the growth of the collegiate Midwest climbing community by fostering connections and building relationships through collaborative efforts and the spirit of competition. \nThis competition will be held at Adventure Rock’s Walker’s Point location (613 S. 2nd St.\, Milwaukee). Adventure Rock stands as an industry leader in commercial climbing gyms in the Midwest and a staple of the Milwaukee climbing community with its three locations. This competition would not be possible without the support and partnership of Adventure Rock’s staff and facility. \nThis competition is bouldering only and open to all currently enrolled college students\, at any university. \nUWM Competition Schedule:\n9-10 a.m. Climber Check-In\n10-10:30 a.m. Rules\n10:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Climbing\n1:30 p.m. Scorecards Due\n2-2:30 p.m. Awards \nIndividuals: Individual competitors will earn points at each competition and their top three scores will be counted toward their series total. There are three categories (beginner\, intermediate\, or advanced) in men’s and women’s divisions. Competitors will be placed blindly based on their total scores. \nTeams: The following criteria must be met to be considered a team:\n~Must be composed of at least 3 individuals\n~Members must be from the same organization (same school\, club\, gym etc.)\n~Must consist of at least one member of the opposite gender\n~Must consist of a maximum of 6 climbers per team. More than 6 climbers from each team can compete\, but only the 6 climbers listed on the pre-submitted roster will have their scores count toward the team.\n~Teams compete and score just like individuals do. Team scores will be composed of the top three scores from max 6 individuals on that team.\n~The top 3 comp scores from each team will be used to determine their series total. DESCRIPTION:Did you know that the Milwaukee area is one of the surfing capitals of the Midwest? Lake Michigan is great to learn how to surf and provides a practice ground for bigger water. This surfing class is geared toward first-time surfers who have never been on a board before. We will provide wetsuits\, surf boards\, instruction\, booties (if needed)\, and gloves (if needed). You will learn the beginner skills of how to “pop up\,” stand up\, and control a surfboard. Registration closes two days before the trip.
