SUMMARY:Building Wealth\, Building Communities: The Vital Role of CDFIs
DESCRIPTION:https://uwm.edu/sce/building-wealth-building-communities-the-vital-role-of-cdfis/ \nJoin us for an enlightening discussion about the power community development financial institutions (CDFIs) play in shaping our economy and communities. CDFIs play a vital role in our economy\, helping small businesses start and grow. When conventional financing avenues fall short\, CDFIs step in\, providing essential capital and fostering “social capital” through business support\, professional networks and resources. \nOur featured presentation highlights CDFI leader Arlo Washington\, whose story was showcased in a 2024 Oscar-nominated documentary\, “The Barber of Little Rock.” This event provides an opportunity for Washington to share his impact on the community and spotlight the work of our local CDFI network. Countless businesses owe their existence to CDFIs. \nDate: Wednesday\, Nov. 13\, 2024\nTime: 6:30 p.m. – Doors open at 5:30 p.m.\nLocation: Turner Hall Ballroom\, 1040 N Vel R. Phillips Ave\, Milwaukee\, WI 53203 \n
