A Special Emphasis in Writing Pedagogy and Administration consists of four writing pedagogy or writing program administration courses (12 credits) and a portfolio of teaching and/or writing program administration materials.

  • One of the four courses must be English 701;
  • The remaining three courses will include different topical offerings of English 755 and English 854.
  • Students who serve for at least one year in an administrative role in either the First-Year Composition Program or the Business and Technical Writing Program may use that service in lieu of one section of English 755 or English 854.
  • Students shall declare their interest in a Special Emphasis to the Plan B Coordinator no later than one year before they plan to graduate. See the Plan B Coordinator for further information about the Special Emphasis and the approval process.

Contact the Plan B Graduate Coordinator, Associate Professor Rachel Bloom-Pojar (bloompoj@uwm.edu), for further information about the Special Emphasis and the approval process.
