Complete these three steps to get started:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"uwm-c-list--sequence\">\n<li><div class=\"uwm-c-list--content-wrap\"><h2>Complete the online application by April 2nd.<\/h2>\n<div class=\"uwm-u-flex uwm-u-flex--wrap uwm-u-flex--left\">\n<a class=\"uwm-c-button uwm-u-mr-20 uwm-u-mb-20\" href=\"\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Summer 2027 Applications Open November 1, 2026<\/a>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><div class=\"uwm-c-list--content-wrap\"><h2>*Provide English Language Proficiency Scores for a low-intermediate (CEFR B1) level.<\/h2>\n<p>Submit a CEFR B1 score from one of the English proficiency tests below or take an English placement test provided by the English Language Academy and receive an equivalent CEFR B1 score. Below are the different test options for English placement tests and their equivalencies for a low-intermediate (B1 CEFR) level.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/ielts.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">IELTS<\/a> \u2013 minimum score of 4<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ets.org\/toefl\/institutions\/ibt.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">TOEFL iBT<\/a> \u2013minimum score of 50 (pre 1\/21\/2026) and 3 (post 1\/21\/2026)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ets.org\/toefl\/test-takers\/essentials.html\">TOEFL Essentials<\/a> &#8211; minimum score of 5<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/forms.office.com\/Pages\/ResponsePage.aspx?id=w3rKC7b8_U6J623pdgPPIedcsCFn44RIoYK6QLSN0utUMFNRNzZQSE9ROU9MVzEzTzM5MjQ0WjgwNS4u\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Duolingo<\/a> \u2013 minimum score of 60<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/michiganassessment.org\/which-test-is-right-for-me\/met\/\">MET <\/a>&#8211; minimum score of 41<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><div class=\"uwm-c-list--content-wrap\"><h2>Pay the non-refundable $150 deposit to secure your place in the program.<\/h2>\n<p><em><strong>Please note: <em>There is a 14 participant minimum for <\/em>each PLUS content program. If we do not receive 14 participants for the program by April 1st, applicants will be notified by email of the program cancellation and will receive a refund for the $150 deposit. Application fee is only refundable in the case of program cancellation.&nbsp;<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<\/div><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-english-placement-test-nbsp\">English Placement Test&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>You will need to demonstrate a low-intermediate level of English proficiency to participate in the program, equal to a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.coe.int\/en\/web\/common-european-framework-reference-languages\/level-descriptions\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) B1 level<\/a>. You will be placed into their interactive English classes before arriving at UWM by either providing an English placement test score from one of the approved English placement tests listed above OR by taking the <a href=\"https:\/\/michiganassessment.org\/michigan-tests\/met-new\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Michigan English Test (MET)<\/a>, an online language assessment, provided by the English Language Academy. If you choose to take the Michigan English Test, once we receive your application and application fee, we will email instructions and a link to take the test. We recommend that students apply for <a href=\"https:\/\/travel.state.gov\/content\/travel\/en\/us-visas\/tourism-visit\/visitor.html\/visa\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">a tourist (B-2) visa<\/a>. It is not refundable.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The deadline to pay the full program fee is June 11, 2027, and is not refundable, except if the visa is denied.
