Full Admission with Foundation

Foundation admission is for international students who have been admitted to an academic degree program at UWM but still need to complete required foundational coursework. Students with foundation admission can register for up to 6 credits in non-EAP courses. A student with foundation admission cannot carry more than 16 credits overall. Based on your TOEFL or IELTS score, refer to the table below to understand your foundational coursework requirements. Please note that ALL your foundational courses carry credit towards a degree.

*Please note: You must receive a C or higher in all EAP coursework to pass out of the class.

Contact information: If you have submitted a score other than TOEFL or IELTS, or if you wish to set up an appointment with an advisor about your foundational courses, please contact the English Language Academy at el-academy@uwm.edu. If you have questions about foundational admission, please contact the Center for International Education (CIE) International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS) at isss@uwm.edu.
