Oral and\/or written communication to anyone outside your lab is considered public disclosure. This hinders your opportunities to protect your idea. Please contact us at team@uwmrf.org<\/a> if you have questions.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n\nPresenting your poster<\/h2>\n\n\n\nExpand All<\/button>\nHow you say it is important<\/div>\n\nIntroduce yourself when you begin speaking to the judge.<\/li>\n\n\n\nMake eye contact.<\/li>\n\n\n\nDemonstrate your expertise, understanding of, and passion for, the topic (many, many judges appreciated that students conveyed these characteristics when presenting, and complimented students on this).<\/li>\n\n\n\nShow confidence during your presentation (or pretend to!).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\nIt’s important to consider your audience<\/div>\n\nConsider asking about your audience\u2019s knowledge on the subject first (to gauge their understanding of your topic).<\/li>\n\n\n\nModify explanations to the background of your audience. <\/li>\n\n\n\nDon\u2019t use jargon. <\/li>\n\n\n\nDefine acronyms. <\/li>\n\n\n\nDon\u2019t block the view of your poster. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\nOrganize what you say<\/div>\n\nAs with your poster, establish the problem and why the problem is important, before going straight to results. <\/li>\n\n\n\nPractice telling your presentation to someone else. Please contact us at team@uwmrf.org<\/a> if you have questions.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n\nPresenting your poster<\/h2>\n\n\n\nExpand All<\/button>\nHow you say it is important<\/div>\n\nIntroduce yourself when you begin speaking to the judge.<\/li>\n\n\n\nMake eye contact.<\/li>\n\n\n\nDemonstrate your expertise, understanding of, and passion for, the topic (many, many judges appreciated that students conveyed these characteristics when presenting, and complimented students on this).<\/li>\n\n\n\nShow confidence during your presentation (or pretend to!).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\nIt’s important to consider your audience<\/div>\n\nConsider asking about your audience\u2019s knowledge on the subject first (to gauge their understanding of your topic).<\/li>\n\n\n\nModify explanations to the background of your audience. <\/li>\n\n\n\nDon\u2019t use jargon. <\/li>\n\n\n\nDefine acronyms. <\/li>\n\n\n\nDon\u2019t block the view of your poster. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\nOrganize what you say<\/div>\n\nAs with your poster, establish the problem and why the problem is important, before going straight to results. <\/li>\n\n\n\nPractice telling your presentation to someone else.
