students\u2014celebrating their research, innovation, and hands-on experiences that set them up for future success.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"has-alpha-channel-opacity\" \/>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"uwm-l-row\">\n<div class=\"uwm-l-col\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-poster-competition\"><strong>Poster Competition <\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>This is the 18th year for our signature poster competition event!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Current <strong>graduate and undergraduate students<\/strong> will present their posters to industry judges and receive valuable feedback.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Awards will be given for first-third place in the following categories:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Undergraduate research<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Graduate research<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Experiential learning, including one of the following:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Internships and co-ops<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Senior design<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Student organizations<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Study abroad<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"uwm-l-col\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-three-minute-thesis-3mt\">Three Minute Thesis PhD students to explain their research thesis and its significance to a general audience in three minutes, using a single PowerPoint slide as a reference.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Finalists will present their 3MT at the event and one will earn a $1,000 scholarship prize. <a href=\"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/engineering\/research\/student-research-poster-competition\/michael-krauski-memorial-award\/\">Learn opportunity to present your work in poster form to a professional audience of engineers and computer scientists, as researchers do at conferences. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"uwm-u-flex uwm-u-flex--wrap target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">IMPORTANT: Poster Preparation &amp; Presentation Information<\/a>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Student org and senior design participants:<\/strong> Please bring your model, project, student org vehicle or any other artifact that shows your work (and Milwaukee Engineer enthusiasm!).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>To participate:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>You must be a current student of the College of Engineering &amp; Applied Science<\/strong> or your mentor\/advisor must be a member of the college.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Each student must register and create a unique poster in one of the following categories:<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Undergraduate research <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Graduate research<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Experiential Learning, including, but not limited to:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Co-op or internship<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Senior design project<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Student organization poster <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>CEAS study abroad <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Group projects<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Research included in the research poster competition must be extracurricular<\/strong> and not related to a required course.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Each poster must be submitted and presented by one student.<\/strong> If a group worked on a project, each student can enter their own separate poster that addresses a unique attribute of the research or their part of the project.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>No duplicate work accepted<\/strong>. We&#8217;ll break, then all will judge the finalists for the Three Minute Thesis event.
